Forest Service campground reservations
I am writing this letter in response to the article in the Hungry Horse News. Are you kidding me? That is just wrong for the Forest Service to do this reservation system on the campgrounds here or anywhere else for that matter.
I have talked to several people about this and they all feel the same way I do. So let me get this straight — you Forest Service people think this is going to work? Sounds like to me that you got talked into this deal by the new concessionaires.
I can tell you this much — the whole idea sounds like used horse hay to me. There was nothing wrong with the way it has been for years. There was never any major problems that I recall.
So I ask you this — why? The Montana locals are the ones that use these areas year-round, and the tourists are here occasionally. Sounds like to me that you don’t really consider the local guys’ opinion.
In the paper it said that you all want 60 percent of sites for reservations, 40 percent first-come first-serve. It all should be first-come first-serve to me. Like the old saying goes, “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.”
So what’s next? Are we going to have boat launch times kind of like golf when you have a tee time?
So if anybody feels the same why as me, and lots of other people do, help us fight this feel. Free to e-mail me at lonnedull@yahoo.com or call me at 406-885-6424. Born here, raised here, and Montana proud. Thank you very much.
