When did the physical fitness standards for police officers fall off the radar? We as taxpayers need to stand up and ask what exactly the standards are for the police officers of this city.

It is embarrassing to sit in Montana Coffee Traders and watch them sit in the same spot everyday and write tickets. But writing the tickets isn’t the worst of it. Watching them try to crawl out of the car tops everything.

The Columbia Falls Police Department calls yearly to ask for donations. Let’s put this money to good use and get a gym membership for these officers.

I mounted a motion camera to a tree outside my residence in the center of Columbia Falls. Out of the 723 cars that passed by this month, not one was a police vehicle. Let’s get out there and try to stop the crime instead of sitting in your speed trap and waiting to respond.

We as taxpayers and citizens of this town shouldn’t be the ones asking for standards. Where is the city manager and police chief? Take pride in yourself your city and your departments.
