Lady Dogs bring versatility to soccer pitch
The Lady Bulldog soccer team brings confidence, versatility and depth to the pitch this season.
Five seniors will lead a solid group of experienced juniors and sophomores, and few new faces that are scratching for playing time.
“We’re excited for a new season,” Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens said.
A team that was packed with talented youth last year enters the season with more maturity.
“We were a little bit younger last season, so one more year of experience is beneficial,” Farrens said.
The batch of seniors, including captains Madison Grady, Caroline Carbo and Ella Kobelt, are ready to lead.
“It’s in their hands now,” Farrens said. “They all bring a lot to the table. They’re more than ready to step up and lead us.”
New freshman will add to the team’s depth.
“We have some new faces that will impact the team right away,” Farrens said.
Through the first week of practice the Lady Bulldogs have shown their versatility in a new offensive system.
“All the girls are able to play different positions,” Farrens said. “Everyone is coming to practice to learn.”
The goal this year is to make another good playoff run and have fun along the way.
Whitefish was bounced from the playoffs last season after a tough 2-1 loss at Billings Central and finished with an 11-4 overall record.
The Lady Dogs open the season Sept. 3 at Hamilton.
“That will be a good test,” Farrens said. “We’re working hard and we will be ready.”
