Local Babe Ruth teams break even at regional tourney

All three Glacier Babe Ruth baseball teams returned home from the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament in Centralia, Wash., with 2-2 records.

The 13U All-Stars opened the regional tournament July 29 with a 10-2 loss to Mid-Willamette Valley, Ore. They bounced back the next day with a huge 26-0 shutout win over Klamath Falls, Ore.

The 13U team notched another win Aug. 1, topping Laramie, Wyo. by a score of 13-8. They were bounced from the tourney Aug. 2 following a 12-2 loss to Moses Lake, Wash. Mound Time of northern Oregon won the tournament.

The 15U All-Stars, as three-time Montana state champs, entered the regional tournament with high expectations.

The 15U team opened with a tough 7-4 loss July 29 to Kennewick, Wash., but picked up a win the next day after shutting out Green River, Wyo., 10-0. They followed July 31 with an 8-3 loss to South Coast-Coos Bay, Ore., then wrapped up their tourney run with a nice 4-3 victory of Grays Harbor, Wash.

Twin Cities of Southern Washington state won the tournament and advanced to the World Series.

The 14U All-Stars opened regional play July 29 with back-to-back losses. They fell 9-4 to eventual tournament champs, Mound Time, of northern Oregon.

The 14U team dropped their second game 13-1 to Gray Harbor, Wash. They finished the tourney strong with a 9-2 victory of Lewistown, Idaho, and an 8-3 win over Sheridan, Wyo.
