Co-op election
A total of 5,734 ballots were counted in this year’s Flathead Electric Cooperative’s board of trustees election. Incumbents Chris Byrd, District 1, and Doug Grob, District 4, ran unopposed and were re-elected. Challenger Bruce Measure defeated incumbent George Taylor for District 7, the only opposed race, by 3,055 to 2,400.
School election
This year’s election for School District 6 board of trustees has been canceled because the only candidates who filed were the three incumbents and there were no challengers.
Health fair
The Columbia Falls Women’s Connection, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries, will hold a Health and Beauty Fair at the Teakettle Community Room, 235 Nucleus Avenue, in Columbia Falls, on Thursday, April 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Ten vendors will display wares or services and Diane Koch, a Columbia Falls glass artist, will provide an inspirational story. Community choir concert
The Columbia Falls Community Choir will hold their free concerts in the Columbia Falls High School’s Little Theater on Saturday, April 20, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m. The choir, directed by Ron Bond and accompanied by Dawn Hashley, has been offering free concerts for more than 20 years. The choir’s 95 members come from across the Flathead Valley and have been practicing since January. This year’s concert will offer a little nostalgia, some jazz and lots of inspiration.
School musical
Fourth-grade classes at Glacier Gateway Elementary School will present the musical “The Adventures of Lewis and Clark” in the Columbia Falls High School Little Theater on Friday April 26, at 1:45 p.m. A morning show for students is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Free Shriner kids clinic
The Flathead Shrine Club will offer a free screening clinic for children through the Flathead Orthopedic Center on Saturday, April 20, starting at 8 a.m. To schedule an evaluation, call Cathy at 752-7900.
Governor speaks
Gov. Steve Bullock will be the guest speaker at the Flathead Democratic Party’s Spring Dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn, in Kalispell, on Friday, April 19. The social hour will start at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Tra La Gael will provide live music. Tickets are $40 through April 15 and $50 after. Dog show
The Flathead Kennel Club of Montana will hold a AKC-sanctioned dog show at Marantette Park in Columbia Falls on Saturday, May 11. GSC concert
The Glacier Symphony will conclude its 30th concert season with Beethoven, Brahms and the “Piano Concerto in F-sharp minor” by Alexander Scriabin performed by the young Russian-American pianist Vassily Primakov. The concerts will be held in the Flathead High School auditorium, in Kalispell on Saturday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. Tickets for the finale concert are available in a range of prices and seating tiers online at www.gscmusic.org or by calling 257-3241. Youths through grade 12 are admitted free.
Live music
Porter Creek will play bluegrass and folk at Montana Coffee Traders in Columbia Falls on Friday, May 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Plants & pies
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 401 Seventh Street West, in Columbia Falls, will hold its sixth annual pie and perennial plant sale on Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. to noon. Pie by the slice and whole pies will be available for sale. All funds raised will be donated to Habitat for Humanity/Thrivent Builds. Medical fundraiser
A medical fundraiser for Tyler Huston, the Tyler’s Cinqo de Mayo Benefit Festival, will take place at The Zone Family Fun, 3240 U.S. 2 East, in Kalispell, on Sunday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tyler had a heart attack at age five and requires an expensive, life-saving operation. Big Brothers Big Sisters
