Green energy

| April 16, 2013 3:54 PM

I am writing this letter in response to an e-mail sent out April 9 by Sen. Max Baucus regarding his agenda for creating jobs in Montana.

Why in all of the communities you’ve visited and spoken with is there not one mention of “green energy” development? Does Montana not have sun or wind? Do the people of Montana not need jobs? Is it not in our interest to keep our air, water and land free of pollutants?

We need to look to and build for the future. As we now know, some energy sources, as difficult and frightening as these facts may be, are finite and already depleted or toxic and unhealthy for both the people and the environment, and we need to prepare now for an alternative energy economy.

We need to adapt and change to meet the needs of our state in the world of the present. Why are you only looking at yesterday’s resources? Why are Montana governmental officials and its business community only looking to the past for solutions to the future? This makes no sense.
