Hill gets two years for threatening state trooper

Jason Hill, 21, of Bigfork was sentenced Thursday in Flathead District Court to two years in jail and three years of probation after pleading no contest to threatening a state trooper and driving under the influence.

A Montana Highway Patrol trooper found Hill parked on the side of Montana 83 on May 5, and smelled alcohol as he approached the vehicle.

During their interaction, Hill made numerous threats, including to kill the trooper and his family.

According to a court document, Hill told the trooper: “I’m going to say this quietly, I’m going to rape your kids then kill you, I promise.”

The trooper eventually used a Taser on Hill to take him into custody.

Hill also had to be transported to the hospital before being taken to jail because he beat his hand against a window and cut himself.

In exchange for Hill’s plea, additional misdimeanor charges of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, assault with a bodily fluid and resisting arrest were dropped.

As part of his sentence, Hill was also ordered to pay $1,630 in restitution, a $1,500 fine, an $800 public defender fee, and a $235 surcharge.

According to a court document, Hill has several prior convictions for disorderly conduct, a 2007 conviction for burglary in Alaska, and that he was abusive to jail staff during his last incarceration.
