Fern dedicated to public service
Stepping aside from all the campaign rhetoric, I want people to know what a great senator by husband, Dave Fern, will make for Senate District 2.
I have witnessed first-hand his hard work and dedication to public service, including 20 years of work to ensure that every single child, of varying abilities, has access to a free, quality public education. I can mention the hundreds of volunteer hours he has contributed to the community at school board meetings, at high school track meets, and at speech and debate competitions, to name a few.
Dave is also a person of ideas, always studying, reading, and thinking outside the box to arrive at a common solution to benefit the majority.
For 20 years, our family of five lived in modest circumstances while Dave routinely provided his chimney business services at reduced fees (or sometimes free of charge) to the elderly and those in need.
Dave has done all of these things with unusual common sense and compassion, and always with integrity. And so, I’d like to quote a stanza to my husband Dave, from a favorite poem by Sheenagh Pugh, entitled, “Sometimes”.
“A people sometimes will step back from war;
elect an honest man; decide they care
enough, that they can’t leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.
...may it happen for you.”
