Whitefish wrapped up the regular season by blanking Libby 5-0 on Saturday at home during senior night and homecoming. It was a perfect ending to a fun week of Bulldog activities for the girls soccer team.

“The girls had fun with all the homecoming activities,” Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens said. “Saturday was a beautiful day to cap the week.

“It was nice to honor our seniors and they all played great. We’re a young team, so it’s been great to have those five girls. They are all awesome people, positive leaders and good role models. They’ve been a lot of fun to have.”

Seniors accounted for most of the scoring in the effort. Senior Susanna Hoglund found the net just 90 seconds into the match off an assist from Anna Peterson.

Captain Megan Danczyk tallied the next two scores, assisted by fellow senior Janessa Courtney on the first goal and senior Haley Craven on the next.

Junior Caroline Carbo hit the net a few minutes into the second half off a Danczyk assist. Haley Craven capped the scoring five minute later off an assist from her sister Sara Craven.

Whitefish finished the regular season 6-2 in Northern A play and 9-3 overall. The Bulldogs topped the Loggers again on Tuesday in Whitefish in a playoff play-in game. With the win they face Corvallis on Saturday at home.

“Everyone is really excited about the playoffs,” Farrens said. “We’re refocusing for this week.”
