Cold front brings wind and snow
The weather took a decided turn toward winter last week, particularly on the east side of Glacier National Park.
A cold front blew through on Tuesday night, Oct. 2, spawning local thunderstorms and rain, but the rain turned to snow above 4,000 feet.
At St. Mary and Many Glacier, 6 to 8 inches of snow reportedly fell. The Going-to-the-Sun Road was closed down at Rising Sun, but plans are to reopen it to Logan Pass if the weather cooperates.
Secondary roads to Two Medicine and Many Glacier saw some delays as crews cleared snow, but the roads opened later on Wednesday.
The weather should rebound into the 40s and 50s on the east side and the 60s west of the divide by the weekend.
