Democrat Ed Lieser has edged Republican Tim Baldwin in the race for the Whitefish-area House District 4 seat in the Montana Legislature. Lieser tallied about 54 percent of the 5,120 ballots cast for a 410 vote margin of victory.

The race for Senate District 2 went to Republican Dee Brown. The Hungry Horse resident tallied 53.4 percent of the vote compared to 46.5 percent for Whitefish resident David Fern.

Senate District 3 easily went to Republican Bruce Tutvedt who garnered 70 percent of the votes in his race against Whitefish Democrat Shannon Hanson.

Republicans swept in the race for the two Flathead County Commissioner seats.

Republican Cal Scott topped Democrat Gil Jordan with 55 percent of the vote in District 1. In District 3, Republican Gary Krueger picked up 68 percent of the vote.
