The Going-to-the-Sun Road is now open to vehicles to Avalanche Campground, and Glacier National Park plows are working in the Big Bend area on the west side and at Jackson Glacier Overlook on the east side. Big Bend is about three miles from Logan Pass.

As construction begins on the Sun Road, hikers and bikers can’t travel farther than Avalanche Creek this week on weekdays before 6 p.m. This weekend, the hiker-biker closure will be at Haystack Creek.

Construction crews will be working from Avalanche Creek to Logan Creek and in the higher elevations from Haystack Creek to Big Bend. They’re expected to work every weekend except Memorial Day, so hikers and bikers need to be aware of truck traffic.

On the east side, the Sun Road is closed to vehicles at Rising Sun, and hikers and bikers can travel as far as Jackson Glacier Overlook.

The Two Medicine and Many Glacier roads are both completely open. The Inside North Fork Road is closed except for a section north of Polebridge to Doverspike Meadow.
