Lakeside working to raise money for new bike trail
A fundraising effort is under way for the new Blacktail Trail project in Lakeside.
The proposed walking/biking trail along Blacktail Road would extend from downtown Lakeside to Youth with a Mission and include a pedestrian bridge across Stoner Creek.
The grassroots group has almost $13,000 of the $42,000 community match required for the $300,000 in Community Transportation Enhancement Program money the project has been awarded. Approximately $29,000 in additional matching funds must be raised by July 31.
Upcoming events that will benefit the trail project include:
• Saturday, June 23, 3:30 to 8 p.m., The Docks — Tickets are being sold for a Far West tour boat on Flathead Lake, a tram ride at Hockaday Bay, dinner at The Docks with guitarist John Andrews, and a door prize for a free week at a beach house on North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
• Wednesday, June 27, 5:30 to 9 p.m. — Community Tap Night at the Tamarack Brewing Co. Alehouse and Grill and live bluegrass with The Spring Wagon String Band, includes a door prize, “Dine Out Flathead,” that includes many eateries across the valley.
• Saturday, June 30, 4 to 7 p.m. — Outdoor barbecue at the Homestead Cafe with musician Kristi Neumann and a “Pamper the Pup” door prize.
