The skies grew black, the wind picked up, but the storm moving across the valley fittingly held off until the main event. Then it poured.

As the skies turned to ink, Columbia Falls’ Jason Williams won a match by unanimous decision over Whitefish’s Austin Giles. It was one of the few bright spots for Columbia Falls in an otherwise tough performance at the annual Cat-Dog Smoker at Memorial Field in Whitefish on Monday.

The Wildcat boxers this year lost 10 matches to four. The Cats haven’t lost to the Bulldogs in years. Outside of Williams, Kyle Nielsen, Dakota Fowler and Adam Richardson notched the only other wins for the Cats.

The event is a fundraiser for the Glacier Twins American Legion baseball team, and an enthususistic crowd came out to watch the fights.
