State Legion baseball tourney in Whitefish

The Glacier Twins will host the AA American Legion Montana State Tournament at Memorial Park in Whitefish on July 31 through Aug. 5.

The festivities will begin July 31 with a spaghetti feed at Memorial Park at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be former Major League pitcher Sterling Hitchcock. Cost is $5 per plate. The public is invited.

Hitchcock pitched for the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners and earned the 1998 NLCS MVP Award while playing with the San Diego Padres. Hitchcock helped lead the Padres to the World Series.

State tournament action will start Wednesday, Aug. 1, and conclude Monday, Aug. 5. The winning team will head to the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament hosted by Billings.
