Raft for food
The Montana Raft Company will host a fundraiser for the North Valley Food Bank on Sunday, July 8. Pre-registered participants should meet at the raft company, 11970 U.S. 2, in West Glacier at 2:45 p.m. Fifty percent of the cost of the 2-3 hour 3:15 p.m. half-day whitewater raft trip on the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork of the Flathead River will go directly to the food bank to help with the cost of building a new facility. Bear fundraiser
Grizzly Bear Rendezvous 2012 will take place in Bigfork to raise money for grizzly bear conservation in Montana on Friday, July 13, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Jack Hanna will MC the event and talk about his many television adventures and commitment to wildlife conservation in Montana and around the world. Chicago’s director of the Brookfield Zoo and CEO of the Chicago Zoological Society, Stuart Strahl, will serve as keynote speaker. Grizzly bear experts Chris Servheen, Rick Mace, Tim Manley, Jamie Jonkel, Kevin Frye and Mike Madel will provide information and answer questions at their respective display tables. DREAM water sports
DREAM Adaptive Recreation Inc. will offer their annual Water Sports Day Camp for children and adults with disabilities at Echo Lake in Bigfork on Tuesday through Thursday, July 24-26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The nonprofit’s camp will offer adaptive water-skiing, tubing, wake-boarding, boat rides and kayaking. Training dates for volunteers will take place July 10 at Flathead Valley Community College and July 23 at Echo Lake. To volunteer or to participate, call 862-1817.
