Lady Dogs plagued by turnovers
The Polson Lady Pirates showed why
they’re considered one of the best teams in the state Saturday as
they shot the lights out in a 69-18 victory over Whitefish.
The Pirate’s Riley Kenney put in 19
points to lead their potent offensive attack.
Taylor Havens and Simone Craft led the
Lady Bulldogs (1-2, 1-10) with five points each.
Whitefish coach Sean Duff pointed to
turnovers and Whitefish’s struggle with putting the ball though the
hoop.
“We’ve got to quit throwing the ball to
the other team,” he said. “We’ve had too many turnovers and we have
to make our shots. We can’t find the rim and that hurts us. Making
shots builds confidence.”
He commended the team’s tenacity, even
as they found themselves outmatched and down by 50 points.
“They continue to battle, and I admire
that about our team,” he said.
He noted the effort from Simone and
Shannon Craft, and senior Taylor Havens.
“They always give it their best
effort,” Duff said.
Whitefish travels to Bigfork on
Thursday and plays at Frenchtown on Friday.
