Bigfork speech and drama sweeps divisionals
Bigfork’s speech and drama team went to Cutbank after a rough weekend in Ronan and took the western divisional championships in both categories.
They beat Cutbank out to become speech divisional championships and Eureka for the drama title.
“We had one of our best days ever at Cutbank,” head coach Charlie Appleby said. “Having seven divisional champions shows how hard these kids have worked this season.”
Four kids took home speech titles and three kids took the championship in drama events.
Speech titlists were Zoe Gaiser for her humorous oral interpretation, Madeline Lorang for her memorized public address, Alex Hinder in the Lincoln Douglas Debate and Jeanie Schenck in expository speaking.
Drama champions were Becca Sewell and Olivia Witt for their humorous duo, and Amber McDaniel for her serious solo.
Five other students placed in speech events.
Three placed fourth; George Shkara took for his original oratory, Isaac Reichner in impromptu speaking, and Gus DiPaulo for expository speaking.
Mielle Hubbard took fifth in original oratory and Sinah Steiner took seventh in impromptu speaking.
Three other students placed in drama.
Camas Garnett and Daniel McVay took second for their humorous duo, and Emily Pataky took fourth for her pantomime.
“I couldn’t be prouder,” Appleby said.
This weekend the speech and drama team heads to Montana State University in Billings for the state tournament.
