New Years Hike
Lone Pine State Park is celebrating the new year with free guided hikes on Jan. 1, 2013. Hikers will meet at the warming fire near the Lone Pine Picnic Shelter at 11 a.m. on New Year’s Day
Visitors will enjoy a one-hour moderately difficult 1-2 mile hike. Kids are welcome on this family-friendly trek, but be sure they are prepared for hiking uphill. Leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy this outing as well.
Participants should bring a water bottle, sturdy hiking boots, and dress appropriately for the weather. Ice walkers or cleats are recommended. If there is enough snow, bring snowshoes. Snowshoe rentals are available for $5 at Lone Pine State Park.
Knitting Marathon
The Bethany Lutheran Women Prayer Shawl Ministry will be hosting a crocheting and knitting scarf marathon on Friday, Dec. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch and Bethany Women will provide the beverages and desserts.
Their goal is to send 100 prayer scarves to the families and staff affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Landscape Raffle for BHS senior class
Bigfork High School’s senior class is raffling off a $5,000 extreme landscape makeover. Cost is $20 per ticket or six tickets for $100 and only 750 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchased from any BHS senior. The raffle drawing will be held April 16, 2013 and landscape work will be done May 18, 2013.

Swan River Community Hall Board Meeting
A public meeting for the Swan River Community Hall Executive Board will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Swan River Community Hall.
New officers will be elected for the year and the board will review the by-laws of the organization. Public input and participation is welcome.
The Swan River Hall is on the corner of Swan River Road and Montana 83.
