Canadian help

| April 11, 2012 7:53 AM

Many bills which come before the legislature have mutual agreement by both sides of the political aisle. It is only about 20 percent which are sensationalized in our newspapers and on television and usually get the biggest headlines.

One thing the business community can agree on is the importance of the Canadian influx of money to the Flathead and across Montana. Our northern neighbors have kept many of us in business through some rough times in recent years and continue to bring their families to stay and shop for a few days.

I hope you will join us for a community discussion at Grouse Mountain Lodge on April 17th beginning at 6:30 p.m. where we will discuss the possibility of setting up a trade office in Calgary, Alberta. It will be an opportunity for you to weigh in on the issue, whether supportive or not.

Sitting legislators and candidates running for office have been invited, too, since this idea is one we must incubate far in advance of a November election. Come with your best ideas and express them at the meeting.

I know we can work across the aisle on this one so hope to see you at the meeting on the 17th. The 2013 session is not far away.
