Cancer fundraiser
Montana Coffee Traders will hold a community day on Saturday, April 7, to raise funds for Kelsey Timothy, who is undergoing treatment for Level 4 glio blastoma. All proceeds from sales of press-pot coffee will go toward helping with Timothy’s medical expenses. A tumor was removed when she underwent surgery in February, and she is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. The tumor was discovered when Timothy fell, hit her head and went to the hospital for treatment. Timothy is the daughter of Columbia Falls gym teacher Betsy Spivey. Egg hunt
A community Easter egg hunt sponsored by Columbia Falls Lions will take place at Marantette Park on Easter Sunday startng at 1 p.m. special sections for different age groups.
Chamber meets
The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership meeting at the North Valley Hospital Community Room on Nucleus Avenue on Tuesday, April 10, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Columbia Falls city manager Susan Nicosia, the guest speaker, will talk about economic development, city projects and the city’s loan program. Swing dance

Republican dinner
The Flathead County Republican Central Committee will host its 2012 Lincoln/Reagan Day dinner at the county fairground’s Expo Building in Kalispell on Saturday, April 14, with a cocktail social at 4:45 p.m. and dinner at 5 p.m. Republican candidates will speak, and there will be an auction and live entertainment. Dogs & cats
In honor of its 10-year anniversary, the Flathead Spay & Neuter Task Force is offering a special promotion to low-income pet owners. Through a grant from the ASPCA, the Task Force is targeting cats between six weeks and six months old by offering $10 spays for the first 100 cats. To get an appointment, call 881-4500 (voicemail). Film on courage
The North Valley Baptist Church, 1750 Talbott Rd., will present a one-time free showing of the film “Courageous” on Saturday, April 7, at 6:30 p.m. Childcare for babies and children through sixth-grade will be provided, and refreshments will be served after the showing. Homeschool theater
The Homeschool Theater Club will present “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” at the New Covenant Church, 436 Birch Grove, in Kalispell, on Thursday and Friday, April 12-13, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 14, at 4 p.m. Admission is free. A bake sale will offset production costs.
Preschool class
The Columbia Falls High School is looking for children 3-5 years old to participate in the high school’s HERO Preschool class. A “meet the teen” meeting will be held at the high school on April 13 from 1:45 to 2:25 p.m. The classes will take place at the high school from April 16 through May 31 from 1:45 to 2:50 p.m. Cost for parents is $25 per child for the 24-day session. Garden talk
Pat McGlynn, from the Flathead County Extension Office, will talk about agricultural resources and other topics during a garden workshop at Glacier Discovery Square on Thursday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m. Ronnie Honthaas will talk about preparing for bees in the garden. The workshop is presented by the Columbia Falls Library Association.
