Lady Dogs buzz Loggers

It didn’t take long for the Lady

Bulldogs to get their high-powered offense revved up Sept. 24 in a

league match against Libby. Whitefish’s Megan Danczyk scored two

goals in the first five minutes as the Dogs blanked the Loggers

12-0 at Smith Fields.

 Whitefish held Libby to zero shots on

goal and rarely let the ball past midfield. The victory bumps their

conference record up to 4-1.

 Danczyk scored in the fourth minute on

a put-back to get Whitefish on the board. She tallied another a

minute later when she blasted a rocket from the top of the penalty

box.

 Natalie Gayner dribbled past a

defender and put a shot in the back of the net 30 seconds later to

make it 3-0. Gayner then assisted Danczyk in front of the net to

give the junior a hat trick only 10 minutes into the match.

“Natalie and Megan compliment each

other really well,” Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens said. “It’s fun

to see those two playing together up top.”

 Cherstin Ling scored with her left

foot in the 22nd minute and Janessa Courtney cleaned up a loose

ball in the 35th minute to give Whitefish a commanding 6-0 lead at

the half. Both players just recently joined the team.

“They will provide more depth and

experience for us,” Farrens said. “Increasing the roster will help

us be successful in big games where we need more subs.”

 Mackenzie Thomas scored on a

break-away in the 47th minute to keep the momentum going, then

Gayner tallied twice to give her a hat trick.

 Kayla Simmes, Samantha Dittman and

Katherine Millette each hit the net to wrap up the scoring.

“It was great to see everyone on team

get out there and play,” Farrens said.

She noted the entire defensive unit and

pinpointed senior Sam Dittman’s play at sweeper.

“Sam is quick and makes great decisions

with her distribution,” Farrens said. “She is anchoring the

defense.”

Whitefish prepares for conference

showdowns with Bigfork and Columbia Falls next week.
