The National Parks Conservation Association will sponsor "Backbone of the World: A Journey Through Glacier National Park" at the O'Shaughnessy in Whitefish on Saturday, Sept. 17, with doors opening at 6 p.m. The event will start at 7 p.m. and include a presentation by photographer Steven Gnam, singing by the Crown Of The Continent Choir, and an auction of Gnam's photos. Cost is $5 adults and free for children.

Le Grizz ultramarathon

The 30th Le Grizz 50 Mile Ultramarathon will be held along Hungry Horse Reservoir on Saturday, Oct. 8. Sponsored by the Cheetah Herders Athletic Club, the footrace is managed primarily to get first-time ultradistance runners to the finish line.
