Pitbull attack

Thank you to the three or four men who helped my dog escape an unprovoked attack at the Teakettle Fishing Access site in Columbia Falls on Sunday, Aug. 28.

My wife was returning to her car with both of our dogs on a split lead when a loose dog (reportedly a pitbull) walked up and without provocation attacked my small chocolate lab.

She didn't fight back and probably because of this escaped serious injury. These men held the attacking dog down and physically pried its jaws loose at risk of injury to themselves.

My dog appears to be recovering after a pricey trip to the vet. My wife is slowly recovering from the trauma of being on the other end of the leash in a violent dog attack.

We have no idea who the owner of the attacking dog is and have not received apologies or offers of help with vet bills. Worse, I am fearful that the attacking dog will be still allowed to wander in public areas off-leash and out of voice-command, and that other dogs or possibly children will be injured.

Please obey leash laws and confront those who do not. Thanks again to those who helped.
