Campaign fundraising tops $35,000

More than $36,141 has been raised by

the eight candidates in this year’s city election. Most of those

funds have been spent with local businesses.

Mayoral candidate John Muhlfeld leads

the way with $10,829.25 in funds received as of the beginning of

October, according to his latest campaign finance report. Included

in those funds is $772 in personal loans.

Muhlfeld’s opponent, Turner Askew, had

received $3,942.10 in funds in the same time period. Askew’s report

shows he received $160 from the Excellence in Voting PAC.

Expenses from both mayoral candidates

went to local printing shops and this newspaper. Muhlfeld used

Callard Promotional Merchandise to print some of his yard signs,

which has a headquarters in Ohio and a regional office in

Whitefish.

Candidate Richard Hildner leads the

fundraising effort in the council race with $5,897.85 received.

That includes a $1,187.97 personal loan and $160 from the Montana

Conservation Voters State PAC.

Councilor candidate John Anderson also

received $160 from the Montana Conservation Voters State PAC.

Life Noell is running his campaign on

only $50. He has said in past candidate forums that he is opposed

to excesive spending for city elections.
