Fall decorations

For the 18th year, businesses will decorate Columbia Falls with cornstalks, straw bales and scarecrows. The Northwest Antique Power Association will donate straw bales from their recent antique engine tractor show. Bales will be limited this year, and businesses are asked to take one or two for their display. The bales will be located on a trailer at Fourth Street Furniture Store, 28 Fourth Street West. Judging will take place the first week in November. Winners will we announced at the Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce's general membership meeting on Nov. 8.

Women's lunch

The Columbia Falls Women's Connection, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries, will hold a luncheon at the Teakettle Community Hall, 235 Nucleus Avenue, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 11:30 a.m. Pat Page and Bernedetta Bailey will speak. Book sale

The Columbia Falls Library Association will hold a book sale at Glacier Discovery Square on Friday, Oct. 21, from noon to 5 p.m. The sale of old and new books, fiction and nonfiction, will benefit the local library.

Fall crafts

Izaak Walton Inn will hold its 26th annual Glacier Golden Autumn Arts & Craft Show on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy the beautiful, fall colors and early Christmas shopping, featuring Montana artists and displays from more than 25 craftspeople. All you can eat

North Valley Senior Center, 200 Nucleus Avenue, will hold a pancake supper fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 21, from 4-7 p.m. with all the pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausages a person can eat, along with coffee and juice, for $5. For more information, call 892-4087.

Sheriff talks

The Flathead County Republican Women will meet at the Red Lion Inn, in Kalispell on Monday, Oct. 17, at noon. Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry will speak about law enforcement in the county. For more information, call Caroline Solomon at 837-4525.

CARE concert

Flathead CARE and Whitefish CARE will co-sponsor a fundraising concert featuring songwriter and performer John Dunnigan and magical entertainer Dan Jimmerson at the Columbia Falls High School auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. Both nonprofit organizations are committed to promoting a safe and drug-free school environments.

Senior photos

Columbia Falls High School students are reminded that senior photos for the yearbook must be handed in to Mrs. Thramer by Oct. 14. If there is a problem, call 892-6500 ext. 264.

Flu shots

The Flathead City-County Health Department will not hold a mass flu shot clinic at the fairgrounds this year. Flu shots are available at the department's offices on First Ave. West in Kalispell on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Locally, a flu shot clinic will be held at the Montana Veterans Home on Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. Flu shots cost $25. No children will be turned away for inability to pay. Nobody needs an appointment.
