Williams, Osborne win at T. Falls invitational
Led by Wildkat senior Jinise Osborne, the Columbia Falls girls won the Thompson Falls cross-country invitational last week.
Osborne clocked a 20:06 in the Sept. 29 race, beating Felicia Earhart, of Plains, by six seconds.
"It was the first race she's ever won in high school," coach Richard Menicke said.
Osborne was followed by teammate Meredith Stolte, third with 20:23.
Tori Price was seventh with a 21:01, Samantha Mundel was 10th with 21:31, and Carlee Brown was 11th with 21:34.
"It's been a while since we've won a meet," Menicke said. "Things are coming together at the end of the season just as we hoped."
Derrick Williams also continues to shine. He won the boys race in 15:47, a second faster than Carter Montgomery, of Plains.
Williams predicted Montgomery would push him, and Montgomery lived up to the expectation.
The boys took second as a team. James Ratzlaff was sixth with a 16:58, and Zayne Brunz was 11th with a 17:41.
The team will compete in the Whitefish Invitational this Saturday, with races at the high school beginning at 11 a.m.
