Kats lose to Broncs in 5
The Columbia Falls volleyball team had another tough go of it last week, losing to Frenchtown in five games in a tight match, 19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 13-15, to end the regular season.
Haley Belgarde led the Kats in the Oct. 29 loss with nine kills. Gabrielle Stenger had 24 assists.
Coach Addy Connelly said the team had some serving errors early on that hurt and then couldn't handle Frenchtown's serves on the other end.
The Wildkats will get a rematch with the Lady Broncs this Friday at 11 a.m. in the divisional tournament in Whitefish. The Kats' lone win was against the Broncs earlier this season.
"It will be exciting to give them another whirl," Connelly said.
The team also had some bad news. Member Taylor Peterson was recently diagnosed with cancer in her jawbone (see related story). Later this month, she'll undergo surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
A spaghetti feed fundraiser for Peterson is planned at the Blue Moon this Sunday at 1 p.m. with an auction at 4:30 p.m.
