Hazardous waste disposal scheduled

Four special hazardous waste collection opportunities will take place this weekend:

• On Friday, May 20, small businesses that produce less than 200 pounds of hazardous waste per month can drop off their waste at the Flathead County landfill. Business owners must pay for this service, and they must register in advance by calling 756-8993.

• On Saturday, May 21, people with electronic waste, from TV sets and computers to copying machines and cell phones, can drop off their waste at Valley Recycling, 1410 U.S. 2 West, in Kalispell, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A price list for disposal can be found online at www.valleyrecycling.com or by calling 257-4302.

• Also on Saturday, people with unwanted prescription medicines can drop off their waste at the Flathead City-County Health Department, in the parking lot at the Earl Bennett Building, 1035 First Avenue West, in Kalispell, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no charge for this service.

• Lastly, also on Saturday, people with household hazardous waste, from oil-based paint and cleaning products to insecticides and solvents, can drop off their waste at the landfill. There is no charge but they must register in advance by calling 756-8993.
