Vasquez earns 1st team all conference
Whitefish junior Gage Vasquez has been
named to the Northwestern A boys basketball all-conference 1st
team. The forward averaged 16 points a game this season and led the
Bulldogs in total points, rebounds and free-throw shooting.
“Gage is such an all-around player,”
Whitefish coach Mark Casazza said. “He’s a great scorer, he can
pass the ball, and this year he made some big improvements crashing
the boards.”
Whitefish will look to Vasquez next
season as a go-to player.
“We’ll need his senior leadership,”
Casazza said. “The guys look up to him, and he has so much varsity
experience already.”
Senior Mac Roche earned all-conference
second team, and senior Drew Galbraith earned honorable
mention.
“Mac is so consistent,” Casazza said.
“He hustled and gave us great defense night in and night out. He
was our blue-collar work horse.”
Casazza noted Gal-braith’s growth as a
player this season.
“Look at how far he came from last
year,” Casazza said. “On defense, he took care of the paint for
us.”
