Eighth-graders visit high school, learn about clubs
Join clubs, get involved and don’t be
that guy who doesn’t wear a costume during homecoming week. This
important advice was passed on to incoming Whitefish High School
freshmen by current students at the annual eighth-grade assembly
last week.
School administrators and students use
the opportunity each year to tell the incoming class about the
clubs, sports and activities available at Whitefish and to sell
them on the idea that Whitefish is a top-tier school.
“It was so great to have those
eighth-graders in our building and for our current students to
present all the positive activities we have going on at this high
school.” Whitefish activities director Jackie Fuller said. “We
truly are a great place to be.”
Selected students talked to the group
about clubs they are involved with and offered advice about
transitioning into high school. A few took the opportunity to
promote Whitefish as a better school than others in the valley.
“I almost decided to go to Glacier,”
sophomore Hanna Lewis said. “I’m so glad I stayed here. We have
great activities and sports.”
Freshman Aaron Torgerson told the
eighth graders to “stand out in a good way,” in reference to all of
the clubs available to join. Torgerson is a member of the jazz
band.
Senior Stella Holt advised the incoming
class about student council and encouraged them to get involved in
any way possible.
“Come into high school and create an
identity,” Holt said.
The drumline, choir, cheerleaders and
drama club each performed at the assembly.
