Park superintendent isn't leaving

An Arizona newspaper report Monday had mistakenly suggested Glacier National Park Superintendent Chas Cartwright will be leaving the Park. Cartwright isn't going anywhere.

Kym Hall, the superintendent at the Chiricahua National Monument and the Coronado National Memorial in Arizona, told the Sierra Vista Herald she was moving to Montana to be the superintendent of Glacier National Park.

Right Park. Wrong job.

Hall is coming to Glacier Park but as deputy superintendent. That position opened up when Stephanie Dubois, the former and longtime deputy superintendent at Glacier Park, was named the superintendent of Mojave National Preserve.

"I like this job," Cartwright quipped Tuesday. "I plan on sticking around."

Hall is expected to start in Glacier Park on June 30, but she has some problems. Both National Park Service units she manages are threatened by wildfires.
