Open letter to the class of 2011
Dear Bigfork Graduating Class of 2011,
It is hard to believe that June is here and we are approaching the end of a great year for Bigfork High School.
Your graduation is an important time of celebration, not just for you, but for all of those who helped you get to this point in your life. Each of you has a special person who has played a very supportive role in your life as a Bigfork student. For many of you, it is your mom, dad, brother or sister. For others, it has been a teacher, a counselor or a best friend.
All of you have, at some point or another, relied on someone to provide emotional support and nurturing. I hope that you will remember the support you have received during your school years, and honor the person who provided it to you by playing a similar role in the life of a future student.
You, the senior class of 2011, have consistently maintained high standards and have completed your last high school experience — graduation — with all the dignity and class that you have exhibited all year. Graduation marks the end of your high school years, and the closing of a chapter of your lives. Graduation is also a beginning — the beginning of new opportunities and new adventures. I truly believe that you leave Bigfork High School prepared to meet all of the challenges you will face.
As you embark on this new phase of your lives, I have five words of advice that
I’d like to share.
The first word is now.
If there was ever a time for you to dare to make a difference, to do something worth doing, it is now. This is your time!
The second word is dream.
Always dream big.
Don’t be afraid to learn something new. Have fun. Remember that things that are worth doing are rarely easy.
You owe it to yourself to make your days and dreams count!
The third word is persist.
There will be times when you will want to turn around, pack it up and call it quits.
Those experiences will prove that you have the power to realize potential that you didn’t know existed. You can do anything!
The fourth word is trust. Trust in yourself to make great choices. Let your instincts, your intellect and your heart guide you in all that you do!
The fifth word is believe. Believe in yourself. Believe in hard work. Believe in laughter and hope. Believe in your family and friends.
Your graduation marks the start of something new, and it brings hope of something great.
There is only one you, and you have this opportunity just once.
Do it right!
I see in all of you endless possibilities, and I am excited for you.
Congratulations to you, the class of 2011, and congratulations to your families, friends and loved ones who join you in celebrating your graduation and this new chapter of your lives!
