July 27, 1951
Glacier National Park officials announced plans to spray to eliminate goat weed to protect wildlife grazing land in the Park. The spraying would be done in cooperation with the Flathead County agriculture agent and weed exterminator.
Unusually deep snow in the alpine areas of Glacier Park was blamed for six grizzly bears seen hanging around the Many Glacier valley garbage dump. Park officials said black bears typically hang around the dump while grizzlies stay at higher elevations. One of the grizzlies had twin cubs.

July 28, 1961
Northwest Video Inc., of Kalispell, announced plans to bring cable TV to Columbia Falls by September. Service would include local TV stations and possibly closed-circuit broadcasts from the high school. Cost to customers was $24.95 for installation and $4.50 per month. Plans included extending service to Hungry Horse, Martin City, Coram and West Glacier.
A $48,912 contract to build an incinerator in Glacier Park at Many Glacier was awarded to Roy Shelby, of Cut Bank. The engineer's estimate was $36,764, and five contractors submitted bids.

July 30, 1971
Two more problem bears were airlifted by helicopter to Surprise Pass, at the headwaters of Coal and Nyack creeks in Glacier Park. The black bear and cub were captured at Rising Sun Campground. In a separate Park incident, two hikers lost their lunches to a bear at Florence Falls, above St. Mary Lake.
Stage productions slated for the summer season at the Many Glacier Hotel in Glacier Park included "The Fantasticks" and "I Do, I Do." Many of the 175 workers at the hotel had stage and musical talent and put on productions at night after completing their work.

Three visitors to Glacier Park drowned in one week's time in Upper McDonald Creek. Donald and Betty Danielowski, 40 and 36, of Mound, Minn., died near Moose Country after they tried to rescue a 9-year-old nephew who had fallen in. The boy survived. Several days earlier, Kevin Dolack, 7, of Glenview, Ill., drowned after slipping of rocks near the footbridge.
A Canadian visitor in the upper parking lot at the Many Glacier Hotel was hit by a ricocheting bullet caused when a man dropped his Ruger .44 magnum handgun. The injured man was transported to a hospital in Cardston, Alberta.

Texas country-western singer Jerry Jeff Walker drew about 1,500 listeners to a concert at Meadow Lake Resort. The tent over the stage was removed after Walker asked to play under the nighttime stars. Rob Quist and the Great Northern Band opened the show. Walker played golf at the resort earlier in the day.
A woman running from a bear at Avalanche Lake in Glacier Park fell and broke her arm. When the bear approached her, the woman's husband began to shout, and the bear left the area.

A budget item calling for a $33,000 rest room at Horine Park drew debate at the Columbia Falls City Council meeting. Mayor Gary Hall said he would not spend that much money on a bathroom.
Glacier Park officials closed the trail from The Loop, on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, all the way to Granite Park Chalet after eight grizzly bears were seen in the area. Visitors could get to the chalet, which remained open, via the Highline Trail from Logan Pass.
