Lady Dogs' offense woes continue

The Lady Bulldogs continued their offensive struggles last week when they dropped consecutive games to Northwestern A foe Polson and Class AA Flathead.

Whitefish (0-10, 0-3) posted only 15 points in their 42-point loss to Polson at home Saturday night after scoring 20 against Flathead on Friday.

“We couldn’t fall in the ocean if we tried,” Whitefish coach Sean Duff said about the team’s poor shooting. “It’s not like we aren’t getting descent looks. We had eight great looks at the basket against Flathead and didn’t hit one of them. If some of those shots fall, you start to believe you can win.”

Duff says the team is slowly improving with each game and points to the lack of turnovers in the back court compared to last season. Still, he says, the team’s absence of offensive creativity and poor rebounding are poignant reminders that there is a long way to go before divisional.

This week, the ‘Dogs face Ronan and Libby, two teams that Duff says present a great opportunity to pick up a win.

“Lets get a couple Ws and build on it,” he said.
