Save jobs, save the Vets Home

| February 23, 2011 7:47 AM

To the editor,

As a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at the Columbia Falls Veterans Home I am proud to work with a team that provides excellent care to the veterans that have given so much for our country. Our veterans are comfortable and happy here, as they deserve to be. They have given everything for their country. Why should we disrupt them? The veterans come to think of the employees as friends and part of their family.

The privatizing of the Veterans Home will cause the loss of 158 jobs. That would be another economic blow to Flathead County. Can we really afford any more economic disruption? The privatization of the Veterans Home will lead to substandard care for our veterans.  A privatized home’s interest is in profits and not quality care for our honored veterans.

This is no way to treat our veterans that have given so much to keep our freedom so we can work, play and live in a free country.

Help stop the privatization now. Please call or e-mail your state representative. Tell them to remove the privatization amendment in HB2.
