Vikes and Vals enter District 7B Tournament play
Bigfork's No. 1 seeded Vikes and Vals
basketball teams will tip-off their first games in the District 7B
Tournament in Libby on Friday after first round byes.
VIKINGS
The Vikings (10-0) will be the first
Bigfork team to hit the court in the tournament with a 1 p.m. game
against No. 5 seeded Troy, which upset No. 4 Mission (St. Ignatius)
45-32 in the first round.
The winner of the game advances to the
championship game held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The other team moves
in to loser-out play, which starts with a 9 a.m. Saturday game in
Troy against No. 3 Eureka (Lincoln County), which lost in an
overtime first-round match against No. 6 seeded Plains 63-59.
The teams that place in the top four in
the tournament advance to the Western B Divisional Tournament at
Salish Kootenai College in Pablo next weekend.
VALKYRIES
The Bigfork girls basketball team
(10-0) will play at 3 p.m. against No. 4 seeded Thompson Falls,
which won its first-round game against No. 5 Eureka (Lincoln
County) 34-31 on Thursday.
A win in the Friday afternoon matchup
will send Bigfork straight into the championship game at 8:15 p.m.
Saturday.
A loss will send the Vals into the
consolation bracket where they will have to take the long way to
earn one of the four spots given to District 7B at next week’s
Western B Divisional Tournament held at Salish Kootenai College in
Pablo.
The loser-out bracket would start for
Bigfork with a 10:45 a.m. Saturday game at Troy High School against
No. 6 Troy, which lost its first round game against No. 3 Plains
48-42.
