Park fee
Here’s what you get for the paltry $4 added onto your vehicle registration fee every year unless you choose to opt out: Unlimited, hassle-free admittance to well-maintained state parks that serve not only to provide high-quality recreation for you and your family, but that also help increase the flow of tourist dollars into the Montana economy.
And yet, here’s what the forward-thinking, problem solving chairman of the Senate Fish and Game Committee, Sen. J. Brenden, R-Scobey, has to say about the fee: “I just don’t like it.”
Be aware that, if his proposed Senate Bill 13 passes, the fee will be switched to opt-in only. Which means that virtually no one will pay it, and your state parks will suffer as a result. So if you care, please contact area legislators and the governor about this dimwitted proposal.
