Gladys M. (Zacharias) Fredenberg, 92, of Lakeside, a homemaker, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at a local care facility of congestive heart failure.

Graveside services will take place in Kalispell this summer. Schnider Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Gladys was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Whitefish, and raised and educated in Whitefish and Columbia Falls.

She married Walter Fredenberg in 1940 in Whitefish. Walter passed away in 1983.

Gladys worked at the Whitefish Library, as well as the Whitefish Museum.

She enjoyed flowers, gardening, birds, doing handwork, reading and Flathead Valley history.

Survivors include a daughter, Lana Barber, of Great Falls; a son, David Fredenberg, of Fullerton, Calif.; grandchildren, Craig Barber of Bozeman, and Douglas Barber of Sacramento; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Fredenberg, in 1994; and two older sisters, Louise Holden and Dorothy Metcalf.
