Mabel Loy
Mabel Loy, 91, passed away Aug. 13, 2011, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 3, 1920, in Bellingham, Wash., the daughter of Einar and Selma (Torbergson) Hanberg.
Mabel attended schools in Somers, Half Moon and Columbia Falls and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1938. In June 1941, she married John Foy in Kalispell. They lived in Columbia Falls for many years and later moved to Lake Blaine and to Kalispell. They were married for 59 years.
She has been a resident in the Buffalo Hill Terrace community for the last three years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved cooking and baking for her family. She also was an avid reader and loved to sew, making clothes for her family.
Mabel was a very active and longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia Falls. She was baptized in Lake Blaine in 1951. She served many years as church treasurer and was a member of the Christian Women's Club and church choir and was active in many other church activities, including teaching vacation bible school and as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Gladys and Hazel, brothers Kenneth and Robert and half brother John.
She is survived by her two sons, James Loy, of Bozeman, and David Loy, of Eureka.
Memorial services were held Aug. 18, 2011, at Buffalo Hill Terrace followed by graveside services at Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
