Columbia Falls schools start Aug. 31

The first day of school for Columbia Falls students is Wednesday, Aug. 31.

• Elementary schools - Register 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., no appointment necessary. A copy of immunization records and a birth certificate is needed. Orientation at Glacier Gateway will take place Monday, Aug. 29, at 5 p.m. for first grade and 6:30 p.m. for kindergarten. Orientation at Ruder will also take place on Aug. 29 for kindergarten, first and second grades, and letters will be sent home with specific details.

• Junior high school - Register 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., no appointment necessary. A copy of immunization records is needed. All sixth-grade students and their parents are requested to attend an open house at the junior high on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 6-7 p.m. All seventh- and eighth-grade students new to the district and their parents are welcome to attend.

• High school - An appointment is necessary to register by calling 892-6500 ext. 0. A copy of immunization records and transcripts is needed. All freshman students and parents are requested to attend orientation night at the high school on Monday, Aug. 29, from 6-8:30 p.m. Participants will pick up their class schedules in the gym foyer and then meet in the gym. Students and parents in grades 10, 11 and 12 who are new are invited to attend. Class schedules and lockers will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, for seniors, Thursday, Aug. 25, for juniors and Friday, Aug. 26, for sophomores.
