WFD responds to three fires
The Whitefish Fire Department was busy
last week responding to three structure fires.
A garage fire on Texas Avenue Aug. 1
was caused by an improperly placed meat smoker. The home owner was
able to control the fire with a small garden hose until the fire
department arrived. Minimal damage was reported.
A fifth-wheel camper was a total loss
after a fire erupted Aug. 3 on Blanchard Lake Road. The fire of
unknown origin charred the camper, a vehicle next to it and a
storage building.
Nobody was living in the camper and it
was being used for storage.
Rural water supply was provided with
assistance from West Valley, Evergreen, Kalispell and Columbia
Falls. The Whitefish truck holds about 5,000 gallons of water.
Whitefish crews responded at 3 a.m. on
Aug. 5 to reports of smoke at a Colorado Avenue apartment building.
A resident had fallen asleep while using a cook stove and the
building was filling with smoke. Crews evacuated the building but
residents were able to go back to their apartments that
morning.
