Bike path workshop
The Columbia Falls City Council will hold a public workshop on the Third Avenue East bike path that will run from U.S. 2 to River's Edge Park. The workshop will be held in the council chambers on Monday, Aug. 8, starting at 7 p.m. Plans now call for starting construction in mid-October and completing most or all of the work before winter.
Marantette concert
The Columbia Falls Community Choir will perform at Marantette Park on Thursday, Aug. 4, beginning at 6 p.m. as part of the Columbia Falls Lions Club's summer concert series. Glacier Bank will provide free refreshments. Donations of $3 per person or $5 per family are suggested. In event of rain, the concert will be held at the St. Richard's Catholic Church, on the U.S. 2 strip.
Canyon trail fundraiser
The Gateway to Glacier Trail group, partnering with Rails to Trails of Northwest Montana, in Kalispell, will host the inaugural Pints for Paths Brewfest on Saturday, Aug. 6, in West Glacier. All profits will go to building the Glacier to Gateway Trail from Badrock Canyon to Glacier National Park and to provide matching dollars for state and federal grants available for trail systems. At this point, a separated trail runs along U.S. 2 from Hungry Horse to Coram. The current effort is to build an 8-mile trail from Coram to West Glacier. Plant talk
Laura Law, from the Flathead Chapter of the Montana Native Plant Society, will discuss gardening with native plants during the farmers market at Discovery Square on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will include a native plant identification scavenger hunt suitable for children 10-and-older.
Irish band plays Apgar
Willson & McKee, a nationally touring duo specializing in original as well as traditional Irish and Scottish acoustic music, will perform at Montana House, in Glacier National Park's Apgar Village, on Saturday, Aug. 6, beginning at 7 p.m. The duo, which performs with dulcimers, guitars, Irish bouzouki, eltic Harp and accordion, has won repeated honors at the International Songwriting Competition at the Milwaukee Irish Festival.
