The Whitefish boys tennis team earned a

4-3 win over rival Columbia Falls on Monday, marking their first

conference win of the season. The dual was a continuation of a

meeting between the two teams that started last week before getting

snowed out.

Whitefish’s Camp Kenyon held a lead in

the first set played on Thursday and was able to wrap up the No. 2

singles win on Monday.

“Camp got off to a good start on

Thursday,” Whitefish coach Chris Schwaderer said. “He picked up

where he left off, found a nice rhythm and closed it out

quickly.”

Tied 3-3, the team win came down to the

No. 3 doubles match between Whitefish’s Kolter Larsen and Holden

Roberts, and Columbia Falls’ Caleb Bowmann and Andrew West. The

Bulldog duo won the tie-breaker in the second set to take the

match.

“They didn’t succumb to the pressure,”

Schwaderer said. “Instead of folding, they delivered and got us a

win against the local rivals.”

Hans Munzing defeated Issac Morden 6-0,

6-3 for an impressive win at No. 3 singles.

“Hans was impressive,” Schwaderer said.

“He’s come a long way. We was a very green player, but his

consistency and strokes are improving. It’s good to see him get a

win.”

Casey Beiser and Logan Blades topped

Mason Gedlaman and James Jorva 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles to help

get the dual win.

“It’s good to see the kids take a hold

of the match and contribute to get a win,” Schwaderer said. “We

were on a bit of a skid early in the season and this give every one

a confidence boost.”

Whitefish heads south for the weekend

where they’ll play Corvallis, Hamilton and then in the Corvallis

Invitational.

“We need a lot of time on court and

more game experience,” Schwaderer said, “and that’s what we are

going to get this weekend. It’s going to be long and exhausting,

but it’s going to be good for the kids to get repetitions.

Divisional is not too far off.”
