Wants lawsuit to proceed

The Interlocal Agreement Committee working to find a solution for representation of "doughnut" residents is considering an amendment that gives the county (by a vote of two commissioners' the ability to overturn every piece of legislation since 2005 that impacts the doughnut (including lakeshore protection regulations, growth policy, critical areas ordinance, dark skies and approximately 60 more such ordinances).

This is detrimental to both city and doughnut residents and should be taken off the table by city representatives. Allowing the lawsuit to proceed would be a much better option.

Alternatively, the committee could adopt an amendment to create an elected community council for the doughnut that gives doughnut residents meaningful, local, elected representation that will not jeopardize existing ordinances. Such councils have already been established in Bigfork and Lakeside.
