The transition of Bigfork Ambulance into the Bigfork Fire Department has gone extremely well. Personnel has had a positive attitude and been working very hard this past month. It will take us several more months to tie up loose ends.

For the month of September, we will be participating with the Bigfork Rotary Club in its Golf Ball Drop Fund Raiser which will be Wednesday, Sept. 1, 6 p.m., Eagle Bend Golf Club. Proceeds will help support the Swan River Bike Path construction, scholarships and polio eradication.

On Friday, Sept. 10, Friends of Bigfork Fire will be hosting its annual fundraiser.

There will be a golf scramble tournament at noon and a tennis tournament (Thursday and Friday). Proceeds will support the Bigfork Fire Department. At 5 p.m., there will be a barbecue at the Harbor Village Pavilion. Adult tickets are $9 and children under 12 are $5. For more information, please contact the Bigfork hall at 837-4590 or Jim Sticka at 837-2294.

On Saturday, Sept. 11, beginning at 6:43 a.m., the Bigfork Fire Department members will be honoring those firefighters lost in the 9/11 attack nine years ago.

Through Aug. 27, Bigfork Fire Department has responded to 35 incidents: building fire (1), EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury (25), vehicle accident with injuries (2), motor vehicle accident with no injuries (1), gasoline or other flammable liquid spill (1), dispatched and canceled en route (2), authorized controlled burning (1), smoke detector activation, no fire-unintentional (1) and forest, woods or wild land fire (1). Top responders were Lt. Marv Gielen (24) and firefighter Tracy Norred (14).

Be safe!
