Spikers have a tough week

The Columbia Falls volleyball team continues to have a rough season, as they dropped matches last week to Stevensville, Browning and Dillon. The Kats are 0-11 overall and 0-7 in conference.
Against Stevensville last Thursday at home the girls fell 25-10, 25-13, 25-14. Browning beat them 20-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 25-17 later in the day and then Friday Dillon won in three games 25-16, 25-19 and 25-15.
Dillon had 11 aces and 31 kills, which proved to be the difference.
The Kats Dani Gilley had a solid game with 14 digs and two aces.
Against Stevensville, Shaun Rowe had nine digs for the Kats and Jessie Gist had 12 kills against Browning.
The girls are having a tough time putting a complete game together. They’ll get a lead and then have a few unforced errors or missed hits to let a team back into the match.
“We’re not having a bad year,” said coach Addy Connelly. “We’re just not getting any wins.”
Connelly noted the girls were having fun, but they’re also young and inexperienced. Lately they’ve also had some injuries, which hasn’t helped either.
Even so, “we’re slowly making progress,” Connelly said.
On Tuesday the Kats lost to Libby in three straight games, 25-13, 25-18, 25-23.
Libby served up 15 aces in the match. Gist had six kills in the loss.
The Kats face undefeated Polson at home Thursday to wrap up the regular season. Columbia Falls hosts the Northwest A divisional tournament this year Nov. 5-6.
