Two officers who diligently stood patrol throughout the winter months last year have disappeared.

These Frosty snowmen were hand crafted and created by local artists last year to honor those officers of the Flathead and Lake County sheriff’s offices and the Montana Highway Patrol who help make the roadways safer for all residents. The highway patrol officer replica was dedicated in memory of Michael Haynes, who died from injuries incurred in an accident with a drunken driver on the highway. The officers each held a sign reminding drivers to slow through the busy U.S. Highway 93 corridor. The officers were not among the Frostys when they were brought out for refurbishing this year.

Anyone with information or in possession of the missing Frostys is urged to either leave the officers on the west side of the Lakeside Mercantile Building or call 844-3425 or 844-3848.

Painting and refurbishing work for the Frostys, which decorate the sides of Highway 93 throughout the winter, is ongoing. Volunteers are welcome to help at the Lakeside Mercantile from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.

The annual Frosty Feed spaghetti dinner will be held Nov. 14 in the Lakeside Elementary School gym. Costs are $20 per family or $5 per person.
