Kats making it look easy, win three in a row
The Columbia Falls girls soccer team secured second place in the Northwest A conference after it beat Libby and Polson last week.
Last Saturday the Kats pummeled Libby 5-0, scoring four goals in the first half against the Loggers.
McKenzie Kiser had two goals and Danielle Delventhal had one. Cedar Jordt scored as well. Libby also scored on itself.
Last Thursday Kiser and Delventhal each had a hat trick as the Wildkats beat Polson 7-4.
On Tuesday, the Kats blanked Frenchtown 7-0. Kiser and Delventhal had two goals apiece, Madison Sandefer and Julia Burgi also scored and Frenchtown had an own goal.
Coach Greg Trenerry is pleased with the team. From top to bottom, everyone — midfielders, forwards and defensive players are all playing well.
“It doesn’t happen very often. Good job ladies,” he said after the Frenchtown game.
The Kats outshot the Lady Broncs 23-0.
“The defense played very well,” Trenerry said.
The Kats are now 8-1 in league play and 9-2 overall. They finish the regular season this week with a home game against Whitefish Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Kats would need to beat Whitefish by four goals to win the conference, because the Bulldogs beat the Kats earlier this season 3-0.
