Vote again on gravel pits

| November 17, 2010 7:57 AM

To the editor,

Why did the Flathead County Commissioners refuse to vote on the definition of a gravel pit as proposed by the North Fork Land Use Advisory Committee and supported by North Fork landowners? The definition permits gravel pits on the North Fork and defines a gravel pit in the way the Memorandum of Understanding with British Columbia requested in order to stop mining in the Canadian North Fork. Protection of the North Fork Flathead River watershed should be a priority to everyone, especially the county commissioners. I urge the commissioners to reconsider this issue as soon as possible.
